Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show (MIFGS) 2013

After several years of show gardens dominated by hard landscaping and, drought tolerant plants, MIFGS 2013 heralded the return of flowers and vegetables into our backyards.  Keen gardeners and novices alike flocked to the Exhibitions Gardens to enjoy this new balance between architecture and nature.

Once again Merrywood were fortunate to have espaliers featured in some inspirational gardens.

REBECCA HEATH'S - EDIBLE PERSIAN CARPET

Created by Homesglen student, Rebecca Heath, took inspiration from ancient Islamic womens gardens.  Rebecca's garden featured informally trained espalier lemons and pommegranates as the backdrop to her herb and flower garden.

YATES/TREE & SHRUB GROWERS GARDEN

The gold medal garden by Yates featured several advanced informal espaliered citrus as well as our serpentine shaped apples.

BELLA BOTANICS - URBAN SANCTUARY

A restful garden by Lee Bailey of Bella Botanics this garden included informally trained fan camellias.
